Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

Sonic Drive-Ins Dilemma

Sonic is one of my favorite places to eat.  I love eating in my car or on the "patio" when it is warm.  The extra-long chili cheese coneys are awesome, as are their chili cheese fries.  Their chocolate banana shakes are wonderful with small pieces of banana.  One of my favorite times to go is during Happy Hour where I can get a cherry coke for half price.  YEAH!

Okay, I need your help. Well, actually, I just want your thoughts on tipping at Sonic. Should you or should you not tip the carhop that delivers your food? It seems that most of the time I'm there I'm low (or have no) cash.  In that case, I use the debit machine there on the stand.  It does not ask if you want to tip.  But, it seems like they are considered waitresses because they bring your food out to your car.

Sometimes I tip, but, I have to say most of the time I don't.  I don't want to seem rude.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I would love to know what you do.

I wonder, too... we go after we clean out the car at a car wash station(which is infrequently. We just get drinks for the kids, so I usually just give the carhop 2-4 quarters, depending on how many I have left after vacuuming!! Would be more concerned if we actually got FOOD.

My opinion is "no tip." I know they have to walk farther than you would at McD's to put food on a tray, but there's not much else that is different. A waiter/waitress at a sit down restaurant would have more to do in their job description (re-visit, refill my glass, offer desert, etc.) as well as have a reduced salary that needs to be compensated for with tips based on job performance. As far as I know Sonic employees are paid wages at the rate of a fast food place, and not waiter/waitress wages.
