Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

Happy Birthday Will

Today is Will's 5th birthday!! I have to make this quick because we have to take Hannah to her game but I wanted to post two things Will said today before I forget them again. I will post again later.

1) My mom called this morning to wish Will a Happy Birthday. I didn't tell him who was on the phone so when she spoke, he asked, "Is this you, Nana?" When she said yes, he replied, "It's so nice to meet you." We both cracked up laughing.

2) My mom's brother, Jim, called to wish Will a Happy Birthday this afternoon. I told him who it was on the phone. After a couple of minutes I heard Will say, "That is so sweet of you!" These are words I never expected to hear come from my now 5-year old's mouth.

Will's Birthday Party

Today was Will's birthday party. He decided he wanted to have a "water" party in the backyard, like we have been doing for the last few years. It consisted of a slip-n-slide, wading pool, sprinklers, and the trampoline in our backyard. The kids all seem to have a good time. The temperature outside was hot but was really nice in the shade. Mike won't have to worry about watering the backyard for a while. There was water and mud all over the place. Since we have done this kind of party for the last few years, I let Will decide what he wanted to do. Next year, I think we will have to have it elsewhere. It's not that I mind having it here, but I don't want him to feel left out because Hannah has had her parties at Chuck E. Cheese and Build-A-Bear. I have some pictures from the party to post but first I have to download them off my camera. Since it is about time for Mike to play his thrice-weekly computer game with some friends from church, it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Fountain and Deck Pictures

Here are the pictures I promised of our fountain and the trampoline deck.

Mike found one like this at Lowe's but it didn't have
the bottom barrel. I found the whole set at Old Time Pottery
for a good price. It looks really cute and the kids love it.

Here is a side view of the fountain.

Mike built this deck for the kids while he was on vacation.
They all love it.

The bar at the back is actually a seat for the kids to sit on
while they are taking their shoes off. Didn't he do a great job?!
And he only had to call my dad once for help.

Happy Birthday Cathy and Other News

June 5th is my Other Mother's birthday. I remembered but wasn't able to post anything because Mike was using the computer. Sorry it is a little late, Cathy!! Hope you had a great birthday!!

In other news today, the kids and I got to see a smoking car in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I'm not sure exactly what happened but a car in the parking lot had a HUGE plume of black smoke pouring out of it. The Fire Department was there taking care of things while a couple of Police Officers were keeping people back. When we came out after shopping, the car was up on a flatbed tow truck and the front of it was all messed up. It brought back memories from when I was a little girl. My dad had a white Plymouth Roadrunner with a black patch on the hood. One Sunday, one of the men at church came in to the service and said that a white car was on fire. It turned out to be my dad's. I don't remember what happened but the black patch had a burned area in the middle.

Mike made a deck for the trampoline while he was on vacation last week. To get in and out of it, the kids had to climb onto a plastic lawn chair and keep their shoes in a box. The deck gives them room to keep their shoes handy and a seat to sit on when needed. Even Andrew can use it to get in and out of the trampoline easily. He had a blast today climbing the stairs and going in and out of the net. Mike also ran some wire and created an outlet for our new water fountain in the front courtyard. Before, we had to run an electrical cord across the front walk to the fountain. Now, the cord snakes around the front garden area. Once we get some more mulch, we should be able to cover the cord without any problems. I keep meaning to take pictures but forget until it is too late. Maybe tomorrow I can. If not, I definitely will Saturday during Will's birthday party.
